  • Who are the camp counselors?

Camp Foxfire counselors are a group of experienced women—all moms—who have come together to create and lead our outdoor summer program at Foxfire Woods and Farm. All adult staff  have passed clean background checks, are current in CPR and first aid training, and have completed comprehensive camp training, including child safety and abuse prevention. They are responsible for guiding activities, ensuring camper safety, and creating a fun, supportive environment each day.

  • Who are the Counselors In Training?

CITs (Counselor-in-Training) are campers aged 13 and older who are selected to step into a leadership development role at Camp Foxfire. They work alongside our adult counselors to support campers, help lead activities, and assist with caring for the farm animals. Through hands-on experience, CITs learn skills like leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun, outdoor setting. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, make friends, and grow into future leadership roles while still enjoying all the excitement of camp.

  • Can my 5 or 6 year old come too?

Younger campers do enjoy Camp Foxfire, if they're ready.  Otherwise, check out our parent-child program, NaturePLAY.

Successful campers often have an older sibling at camp, have attended NaturePLAY with their parent, or have attended a drop off program regularly (preschool, co-op, or kindergarten).

Children should be able to change their own clothes after water play or getting dirty to encourage independence and enjoy outdoor fun!

    Children must be toileting independently.

We do offer a Half Day Option!

Younger campers are welcome to participate in our full camp sessions as a half-day camper, attending 9-12:00 and heading home during our lunch time.

$175/week, available for campers under 7 yrs.

Use "2026HALFDAY" on full day sessions at registration.

  • Can we bring _ to survival camp?

    Survival Tools

Pocket and whittling knives may be brought by campers ages 10+.

However, knives must be turned in to staff upon arrival and will only be used during designated, supervised activities.

Campers should NOT bring other blades (including hatchets, axes, machetes, straight-blade knives, multitools, saws, throwing knives, or other cutting tools). They will be confiscated and returned to the parent at car pool.

Other survival gear should be labeled with the campers name and remember, leave valuables at home!

  • Is Camp Foxfire phone free?

Yes! Our children deserve the opportunity to unplug, connect with nature, build friendships, and enjoy the moment. So Camp Foxfire is a Phone-Free Zone! We ask families to support this goal by leaving phones, watches, and electronics at home.

    Please do not bring:

    • Toys
    • Electronics
    • Cell phones
    • Smart watches
    • Valuables
    • Blades or sharp tools

If accidentally brought, they will be put up and returned to the parent at car pool.

  • Can we buy a T-Shirt?

Yes! Shirts are included for campers on their first week of Camp Foxfire.

Additional gear (extra shirts, hoodies, long sleeved tees, hats, tote bags, and more) are available for special order.

Meet our Camp Leaders

Our Camp Staff is a gaggle of experienced women (all moms) who have come together to create a fantastic outdoor summer program at Foxfire Woods and Farm.  All staff have clean background checks, are up to date in first aid and CPR, and have completed our camp training, including child safety and mandated reporter. CITs are older children at camp, learning to take on leadership.

As a former park ranger and naturalist, Terri is passionate about sharing the outdoors with others. Her greatest joy is watching the excitement on the faces of children as they discover a new animal, plant, or mushroom in nature. She is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, and brings her experience as a trainer and licensed counselor into the work we do at Camp Foxfire. She believes in the importance of spending quiet time outdoors to help ease anxiety and other mental health concerns, and often takes a break from the hard work of managing a farm to just sit and reflect on our beautiful world - which our next generations must actively protect for their future!

Alison Hux, 2021 Camp Foxfire Director, has worked as a Naturalist, outdoor educator, and nature nerd since 2004 (officially at least!) A Georgia Native, Ms. Ali grew up on the banks of the Chattahoochee, spent summers at Girl Scout camp, weekends mucking stalls in exchange for riding lessons, and a decade working as a veterinary assistant in small animal practices.

Ms. Ali is passionate about place-based education; creating future conservationists by securing a love for the land in all children. She has completed certifications for KHT Montessori, Growing Up Wild, and Project Learning Tree and is a self-proclaimed continuing education junkie. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and Biology from GA Southern University, and her hobbies include saving turtles from cars, playing tag, and running a small homestead and micro dairy. Alison's family includes her hiking loving husband, her goat-whisperer, homeschooled daughter, and more than a dozen farm animals.
