  • Session 1: June 10 - 14th Survival Camp

Water. Food. Shelter. These are three things that are absolutely paramount to the survival of not only humans, but all mammals. We will spend time this week exploring ways to be prepared for unexpected challenges when venturing outdoors, and even some ways to use what nature has provided, to overcome shortfalls in preparation. Example of an activity: participants will learn how to use a compass, AND learn how to determine direction by utilizing the sun, in case they forgot to pack a compass.

Little Lights Preschool Camp, a place to explore the outdoors with purpose that inspires your child’s curiosity. Learning and school readiness begins with curiosity and exposure. At LLPC your child will be awaken to the wonders of learning and nature by being exposed to and taught in a farm and wooded/creek setting. In exploring nature with purpose, your child will be developing the whole child; body, mind and spirit. Let’s go play in the dirt.

  • Session 3:July 8th - 12th Foxfire Kinetics - Maker Space Camp

Waterwheels and Waterwalls, plus more! Campers will be exposed to hands-on problem solving through us of tools, simple machines, and instructor encouragement. They will gain familiarity with maker concepts such as programming, engineering, and design. Campers who already have knowledge in these areas will be able to teach and lead peers, advancing their skills by developing unique solutions to open-ended real life challenges. We'll be using classroom models for lessons and have open ended design time with found materials to create solutions around the farm. Play, create, and discover within our 50 acres of working educational farm.

Meet our Camp Leaders

Our Camp Staff is a gaggle of experienced women (all moms) who have come together to create a fantastic outdoor summer program at Foxfire Woods and Farm.  All staff have clean background checks, are up to date in first aid and CPR, and have completed our camp training, including child safety and mandated reporter. CITs are older children at camp, learning to take on leadership.

As a former park ranger and naturalist, Terri is passionate about sharing the outdoors with others. Her greatest joy is watching the excitement on the faces of children as they discover a new animal, plant, or mushroom in nature. She is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, and brings her experience as a trainer and licensed counselor into the work we do at Camp Foxfire. She believes in the importance of spending quiet time outdoors to help ease anxiety and other mental health concerns, and often takes a break from the hard work of managing a farm to just sit and reflect on our beautiful world - which our next generations must actively protect for their future!

Alison Hux, 2021 Camp Foxfire Director, has worked as a Naturalist, outdoor educator, and nature nerd since 2004 (officially at least!) A Georgia Native, Ms. Ali grew up on the banks of the Chattahoochee, spent summers at Girl Scout camp, weekends mucking stalls in exchange for riding lessons, and a decade working as a veterinary assistant in small animal practices.

Ms. Ali is passionate about place-based education; creating future conservationists by securing a love for the land in all children. She has completed certifications for KHT Montessori, Growing Up Wild, and Project Learning Tree and is a self-proclaimed continuing education junkie. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and Biology from GA Southern University, and her hobbies include saving turtles from cars, playing tag, and running a small homestead and micro dairy. Alison's family includes her hiking loving husband, her goat-whisperer, homeschooled daughter, and more than a dozen farm animals.
